Zoya Nazyalensky
Player Information | Player Name | Nicky | Contact | mistakesweremade | AKA | Tenebrae Nostro, Sidereal, Abraxas | Character Basics | Character Name | Zoya Nazyalensky | Series/Canon | Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse | AU/PG/Canon Point | !Rule of Wolves - immediately post-Nina-drop-off | Cottage | Wolf House | Canon Details | In the country of Ravka, wielders of The Small Science (read: magic) known as Grisha serve as soldiers of The Second Army. Why? Because Ravka’s sandwiched between two much larger and wealthier nations that would just love to annex it, both of which treat Grisha as sub-human. Zoya’s spent her entire life training and fighting for Ravka, sometimes painfully breaking from leaders who turned out not to have its best interests at heart. She loves her awful little country and its people more than anything, and was snatched from canon just after helping to win a decisive victory in a war on like five different fronts. It may or may not be pertinent to note that she’d transformed into a dragon for the occasion, a thing she did not previously know she was capable of. | Character Details | Age | 23 | Pronouns | She/Her | Physical Stature | 5’9” (easily 6’ with the fur hat), statuesque | Hair/Eyes | Hair: Black, Eyes: Blue (sometimes silver and slit-pupiled, for reasons) | Notable Traits | Consistently described as stunningly beautiful, Zoya also comes off as icy and aloof…until she opens her mouth and reveals herself to be sarcastic, cutting, and critical. Her sense of superiority is unfortunately equalled only by her Grisha abilities and her stubborn loyalty. Grisha gain youth and vitality through exercising their powers, so as a rule of thumb, the hotter the Grisha = the more dangerous, and Zoya’s not General of the Second Army for nothing. | 15 Second Summary | Her friends charitably describe Zoya as ‘prickly’. Her enemies refer to her as The Stormwitch. Zoya actively fosters her ‘do not fuck with me’ reputation and excels at playing Bad Cop to her King’s Good Cop. She keeps everyone at arm’s length, spits cutting words as easily as she breathes, and struggles to accept gentleness from others. She’s a recovering Mean Girl who holds herself to ridiculously high standards because she probably feels like she has to be perfect to be worthy of love or something, whatever, don’t at her. She killed a Saint that killed a dragon and now they both live in her head. Luckily every Ravkan was born a hot mess so this is all perfectly fine. | Abilities & Permissions | Abilities | Zoya was a terrifyingly powerful Squaller (a Grisha who can command wind and weather) who later learned how to manipulate fire, water, and inorganic elements. She leans mostly into wind and lightning based abilities. She has some basic aptitude with hand-to-hand combat and knows her way around a firearm as a necessity. | Permissions | Anything is on the table with enough communication! Please do not kill, dismember, or assault her without reaching out to me. | Dragon?? | Spoilers beyond this point! Towards the end of King of Scars, Zoya killed Juris, a Saint who had once defeated and embodied a dragon - it’s fine, he was dying and told her to. This severely boosted her already powerful abilities, but also embedded both Juris and his dragon pal in Zoya’s psyche. Since bonding to them, she’s become able to sense nearby Grisha, empathically link to people in her proximity and, apparently, transform into the original dragon. It manifests as an enormous, black scaled beast with silver eyes and lightning breath. It’s super hot if you’re into that sort of thing. | Memory Registry | Memory Registry | • At the time of appearing in the game, she only has one memory: returning a blonde woman, someone she knew and cared for and worried about, return to a dangerous situation. The woman insisted on doing so, and Zoya, against her better judgement, let her go. full log here | Skills | At the start? Being a dragon/being very beautiful/triggering drama. |
